Polaroid... gone in an instant.

Polaroid :( As many of you may know, polaroid is going extinct. They stopped production of all instant film as of December 2008. The last of it will expire in Dec 09. I remember hearing about this whole thing in passing a few months back but it just clicked with me the other day. I immediately went to a few local store searching for some of the last supply of 600 film, and spent a couple hundred dollars stocking up for the summer. I will begin to post photos soon.

Apparently fuji bought some of the patents for the instant film but it's unclear when/if they will begin production on a replacement for 600 and Sx-70 film (probably what most of you use, if you have a polaroid camera.) Currently they make replacement for medium format polaroid back cameras, which is useless to the general non-film enthused public. (Personally, I'm thinking about buying some polaroid backs for my cameras.) Anyway... I think Fuji is more interested in promoting and pushing there own instant camera and less interested in appeasing the polaroid enthusiasts.

Some good news, a group of polaroid crazed Europeans bought an old polaroid factory and are determined to re-engineer polaroid film and have it in production by 2010. Crossing my fingers.

Bicycle Feet.

Seriously, these look amazing (and dangerous).

NSAC

This past weekend I competed in the NSAC district XI (National Student Advertising Competition) put on by the AAF. This year the challenge was to create a anti-binge drinking campaign targeted towards college students for the Century Council.

This may have been the the most intense project I have ever been involved with and I loved every minute of it. Thanks to all my teammates for not giving up and putting in the time, I can’t imagine a better group of people to work with.

Eight months of work with minimal sleep all lead up to this one night. We ended up with the second place title and walked away with various other awards, which don't get me wrong is great, but damn, it’s hard to be so close. It really sucks to put in so much time and effort and not come in first, but nonetheless I am very proud of my team. (I still think we should have won.)

It’s kind of weird now that its over, I don't know what to do with all this time I suddenly have. (Probably why I started a blog) It feels like I've been dating this campaign for the past 8 months and it suddenly broke up with me. One thing I do know... it was worth it.
